How does Nestlé Waters North America identify new water sources?

Sometimes land owners or local water authorities approach us to see if we’d like to be a customer of their supply.  Other times, we conduct our own search for potential new water supplies.

As a spring water company, we must be vigilant about the sustainability of our spring water assets. Each spring water plant is a significant investment and once built, our plants are dependent on nearby spring water supplies.  That’s why we undertake an extensive siting process that allows for scientific research, reporting, community engagement and government permitting and approval to ensure the long-term viability of each of our sources.

We identify spring water sources that are replenished naturally through precipitation and groundwater movement. We only proceed when our testing gives assurance that our operations will be consistent with other users of water and the surrounding environment.

Local and state officials most often require those research results as part of their due diligence to decide if our project would be suitable for their area.
