Dear Editor:

We are glad to see the article (August 14, 2007, On the anti-bottled-water bandwagon) highlights the efforts of Nestle Waters and other beverage companies to reduce their environmental footprint. In addition to our reduced plastic Eco-shape bottles, all of our plastic bottles are 100 percent recyclable.

While we’re doing our part – and always looking for ways to do more – the fact is that bottled water is responsible for less than one percent of all plastic container waste. We support more progressive recycling programs that would capture all plastic container waste.  That would truly make a difference.

Environmentally sound solutions, combined with the health benefits and accessibility of bottled water, provide consumers with a useful beverage choice.

Sincerely,

Jane Lazgin
